School may be out for the Summer, but learning doesn’t have to stop the minute your children leave the classroom. Every parent knows that when learning is fun, kids retain more and do better overall in school. That is why I am recommending that parents have their kids check out my favorite subject—ears—on Kidshealth.org.
The website covers a broad variety of ear topics, in language that kids can understand. In addition to offering a great primer on ear anatomy, this website covers such helpful topics as “Will loud music hurt my ears?” and “When can I get my ears pierced?” There are also interactive quizzes and simple, at-home experiments that kids can do to learn more about how the ears work.
The content is written is language specific to your child’s age, so kids have different articles than teens—and separate tabs keep the areas distinct from each other. Parents also have their own content, so there is literally something for everyone on Kidshealth.org.
The site is funded by Nemours, one of the largest nonprofit organizations devoted to children’s health. Established in 1936 by philanthropist Alfred I. duPont, Nemours is dedicated to improving the health and spirit of children. The Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media, a national leader in health education, creates KidsHealth.org as well as other online, print, and video programs.
