I just returned from the annual conference of the American Academy of Audiology in Boston, the largest gathering of audiologists in the world. This year’s convention drew 8,000 attendees from around the globe. The meeting allows audiologists to learn about the latest research on topcis such as tinnitus, implantable hearing technology, hearing loss in children and adults, cochlear implants, dizziness in children and adults, and hearing conservation. Because of its size and popularity with audiologists, it is also the largest showcase of new hearing technology in the world.
Most every hearing device manufacturer was represented this year, and there were some exciting new technologies introduced. I will be covering some of them in upcoming blogs over the next month. As I previewed the newest devices, I was impressed with the innovation and attention to lifestyle considerations of potential consumers with hearing loss. Because Shohet Ear Associates carries one of the largest selections of hearing devices in Southern California, the convention was a great opportunity to stay abreast of the “latest and greatest” in hearing technology that may be of benefit to our patients.
Check back for my thoughts on the latest technologies.
