At the annual conference of the American Academy of Audiology in Boston
earlier this year, some exciting new technologies were introduced. Every
hearing device manufacturer was represented this year at the convention, which
drew 8,000 audiologists from around the globe.

One of the more intriguing new products I found being showcased at the
convention was a waterproof hearing aid.
The Phonak M H20, Naida S CRT and Nio S H20 are designed for people with
a mild to severe hearing loss. They have earned an Ingress Protection Rating of
IP67, meaning they are water, sweat, moisture and dust resistant. Phonak says
that wearers can enjoy a wide range of water activities and sand sports comfortably
and confidently.  They are available in
three price and performance levels to suit personal preferences and budget.

Because Shohet Ear Associates carries one of the largest selections of
hearing devices in Southern California, the convention was a great opportunity
to stay abreast of the “latest and greatest” in hearing aids that may be of
benefit to our patients.

Check back for my thoughts on other technologies that help you maintain
an active lifestyle with a hearing loss.
