Shohet Ear Associates is one of only five practices in California taking part in the clinical trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the investigational drug OT0-104 in reducing the frequency of extreme vertigo related to Meniere’s Disease.
Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that can affect hearing and balance to a varying degree. It is characterized by episodes of vertigo, low-pitched tinnitus and hearing loss. The hearing loss is fluctuating rather than permanent, meaning that it comes and goes, alternating between ears for some time, then becomes permanent with no return to normal function. The condition affects people differently; it can range in intensity from being a mild annoyance to a lifelong condition.
If you, a relative or a loved one suffers from Meniere's Disease, taking part in a clinical research study could help bring us closer to potentially developing more effective future treatments for Meniere's Disease for tomorrow. Shohet Ear Associates is one of only five practices in California taking part in the clinical trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the investigational drug OT0-1 04 in reducing the frequency of extreme
vertigo (a feeling that your surroundings are moving when there is no actual movement), related to Meniere's Disease.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted OT0-104 'Fast Track' designation. This is a process designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of investigational drugs for serious conditions and for which no treatments currently exist. As a study participant, you would have access to study-related health care that may help you understand your disease, evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication and additionally, the information gathered from this clinical study may help doctors improve treatment options for those with Meniere's Disease in the future.
