Have you ever been exhausted after a day full of listening? Do you find yourself straining to hear people? New research shows hearing aids may significantly reduce listening effort, resulting in less day-to-day fatigue. Studies have also demonstrated improved multi-tasking ability when wearing hearing aids, even in users with mild hearing loss. Presumably this is because we can partially reallocate cognitive resources to tasks other than hearing.
We know hearing aids improve access to speech sounds. It is becoming increasingly clear, though, that they also ease conversation effort and improve quality of life in ways we may not consider. One more reason to see if hearing aids fit into your lifestyle!
