It’s a
documented fact that hearing impaired children usually lag behind when it comes
to speech development. Kids that have a unilateral hearing loss—that is, they
hear with only one ear—are seven times more likely to fail a grade than their
normal hearing peers. The earlier that you can rehabilitate a hearing loss, the
better a child is going to do in terms of speech acquisition.
