Commercial Spot Filmed in Seal Beach Office

I had the opportunity earlier this month to participate in the filming of one commercial in a series of spots, “Empowering Us All.” One spot, on a patient hearing for the first time thanks to an Esteem implant, was partially filmed in our new Seal Beach office. New Procedure Treats Ear Pain

There is a new procedure using a small medical balloon that can improve Eustachian tube dysfunction. The procedure uses a balloon catheter to widen the Eustachian tube, similar to the medical intervention used to open clogged arteries.

NIDCD Research on EVA and Hearing Loss

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders’ (NIDCD) Otolaryngology Branch is conducting a clinical research study on hearing loss associated with enlarged vestibular aqueducts (EVA). The researchers are recruiting individuals with EVA and hearing loss—and their relatives—to participate in an ongoing study.

Pendred Syndrome in Children

Pendred syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes early hearing loss in children. Children born with Pendred syndrome may begin to lose their hearing at birth or by the time they are three years old. In most cases, their hearing will worsen over time.
